Since 2001, CONNSACS has focused efforts on addressing confidentiality needs for victims of sexual violence and how this confidentiality is key to, and the foundation of, the healing process. As such, CONNSACS has provided t
raining and technical assistance to various national audiences. To continue this work, CONNSACS has developed a series of web seminars for community-based rape crisis victim advocates and statewide sexual assault coalition professionals. The goal of the series is to develop staff capacity to advance victims' right to privacy and improve confidential victim services.
CONNSACS has completed the series of three webinars. The first, "Confidentiality: The Foundation of Healing," focused on philosophy and key principles. The second, "Confidentiality: Advocating for Victim/Survivors of Sexual Assault While Protecting Their Privacy," focused on tips to help counselor/advocates protect victim/survivors' privacy when navigating various systems. The third "Confidentiality: The Roles of Helping Professionals and Their Impact on Victim/Survivors' Privacy-Reminders for Counselor/Advocates" reinforced privacy principles through a discussion of the roles of helping professionals who are often involved in providing services to victim/survivors.
